PM Shehbaz lays foundation stone for K-Four project to address Karachi’s water scarcity

In a ceremony held at the Sindh chief minister house, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone for the K-Four project, which aims to tackle the longstanding issue of clean water scarcity in Karachi.

The event witnessed the presence of prominent political figures, including members of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).

During his address, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude for the supportive remarks made by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto. He referred to Bhutto as his younger brother and acknowledged the efforts of the coalition government in working together to overcome challenges and maintain unity over the past year.

Emphasizing the importance of unity in governance, Shehbaz Sharif credited it for enabling the government to confront significant challenges, including the events of May 9, which he described as the darkest day in Pakistan’s history due to an attempted political upheaval by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Shehbaz Sharif praised the unity of the parliament in foiling the conspiracy, which he believed was backed by external forces.

Addressing the economic development of Pakistan, the prime minister acknowledged that political chaos in the past year had hindered progress. However, he expressed optimism and determination to resolve various issues, including inflation, in order to restore Pakistan’s standing.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the significance of the K-Four project for the people of Karachi and criticized its politicization. He accused former Prime Minister Imran Khan of neglecting the project and pledged that his administration would prioritize its completion.

The prime minister condemned the use of inflammatory language in politics and vowed to focus on the welfare of the people, asserting that access to clean water is a fundamental right for all citizens.

Shehbaz Sharif declared that the allocation of funds for the K-Four project and three other projects would be a top priority in the upcoming budget. Recognizing the economic importance of Karachi as the highest-earning city in the country, he deemed the politicization of drinking water issues in such a metropolis unacceptable.

The K-Four project holds significant promise for addressing the clean water scarcity in Karachi. With the foundation stone laid and a renewed commitment from the prime minister, it is expected to improve the quality of life for the city’s residents.
