After 17 years, Pakistan has set a new record for the highest successful run chase at National Stadium, Karachi.
The successful chase was anchored by a brilliant partnership between Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman, which became Pakistan’s highest-ever fourth-wicket stand in ODIs.
Agha Salman stood out with a remarkable performance, scoring his maiden ODI century at a crucial stage of the game. His composed innings, along with Rizwan’s support, provided the much-needed stability to Pakistan’s chase.
The duo’s calculated approach and aggressive stroke play kept the momentum firmly in Pakistan’s favor.
Earlier in the innings, Pakistan had a strong start in the powerplay, posting 91/2, which was their third-highest powerplay total in ODIs since 2002.
Despite some early setbacks, the team showed immense confidence and adaptability to take control of the chase.
South Africa had earlier posted a formidable total of 352/5, making it the second-highest ODI total ever scored against Pakistan. Their batting display was dominant, with key players contributing to setting a challenging target.
With this total, South Africa also registered the fourth-highest ODI score at the National Stadium, Karachi, in what was a high-scoring encounter on a batting-friendly surface.
However, Pakistan’s historic run chase overshadowed their efforts, marking a memorable moment in the stadium’s cricketing history.
