Thousands of containers are stranded at Port Qasim Karachi due to clearance issues, according to the Senate Standing Committee on Finance.
According to details, FBR Chairman Asim Ahmad told the Senate Standing Committee on Finance that nearly 3000 containers are stuck at port Qasim due to clearance issues.
The chairman of the FBR informed the Senate Committee that the food and cosmetics in 640 containers had already expired. The remaining containers contain mobile phones, automobiles, home appliances, and furniture.
These containers are stranded due to container import policy orders, misdeclaration, and closed letters of credit (LCs), while others are stranded due to the import ban.
