New Zealand to start Pakistan tour from Lahore, not Karachi

After discussing the matter with New Zealand Cricket (NZC), the Pakistan Cricket Board has announced an amended itinerary for the forthcoming home tour against the Kiwis.

Owing to the General Elections in Punjab on April 30, the PCB has stated that matches would be played in the province prior to the election day. The five-match T20I series will begin in Lahore and conclude in Rawalpindi. Karachi will host four of the tour’s five One-Day Internationals (ODIs).

From April 14 to 17, Lahore will host three Twenty20 Internationals. The remaining two T20Is and the first ODI will be played in Rawalpindi from April 20-26. The last four One-Day Internationals (ODIs) will be played in Karachi from April 30 to May 7.

This is New Zealand’s second tour, and the matches will count towards the ICC Team Rankings. The ODIs will help Pakistan prepare for the ACC Asia Cup and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, while the T20Is will help the PCB continue their rebuilding for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be hosted in the United States and the West Indies in June/July 2024.
