Former Mayor Karachi and Chairman Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Syed Mustafa Kamal has put forward a six-point plan to deal with Karachi’s issues.
Speaking at a press conference at the PSP head office on Tuesday morning, the Party Chairman asked for implementation of his six-points to resolve the issues faced by Karachi. He asked that the number of seats in National assembly (NA) and Provincial assembly of Karachi should be increased based on its populations level. He argued that Khyber Pukhtuankhwa which had a much lesser population had 64 seats in the NA.
Kamal demanded that power should be devolved to the lowest levels of the government, Tehsil and union councils. He also asked for funds to be transferred under the National Finance Commission to districts, towns and UCs of the province. He asked the Federal Government to play its role in this regard.
He asked for the merger of the Master Plan Department with the Sindh Building Control Authority to be annulled and instead converted into an autonomous institution.
The PSP Chairman called for establishing Karachi as a single district with 18 towns by reversing the earlier policy.
Lastly, he demanded that all the 18 municipal bodies should have be ruled by one elected mayor.
