MQM-P threatens withdrawal of support if missing workers not recovered

Waseem Akhtar, a former mayor of Karachi and the deputy convener of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), has issued a warning that the party may stop supporting the federal government if its employees go missing.

After attending the burial of missing MQM employee Abid Abbasi, he was speaking with the media in Karachi.

Abbasi was among the three bodies of missing MQM workers who were discovered on Wednesday in various Sindh cities.

We reached a deal with three significant political groups, but, according to him, we are continuously uncovering the remains of our missing employees.

According to the former mayor, MQM-P did not back Shehbaz Sharif becoming prime minister so they could gather the remains [of its employees].

If the missing MQM employees are not found, Akhtar has vowed to resign from the administration. He advised, “You better look after your government.”

Imran Khan was removed from office by a coalition led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz after the MQM-P lost its support for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf-led administration.
