Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted monsoon rains to hit Sindh from Monday. As per the details, powerful monsoon currents are likely to bring widespread thundershowers in Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Umarkot, Jamshoro and Dadu from Sunday (night) to Tuesday.
The report said that some areas might experience few heavy falls which may result in urban flooding in Karachi, Thatta, Badin, and Hyderabad on Monday and Tuesday.
The Met Office has warned all concerned authorities to remain on high alert and take all necessary precautions against the approaching monsoon. Meteorological Department Director Sardar Sarfaraz in a statement said that the monsoon rains will begin in Sindh from June 6.
Prior to the monsoon, temperatures are expected to shoot up to 48 or 49 degrees Celsius, Sardar Sarfaraz stated. This may be accompanied by dust storms and strong winds. He has advised people to take precautions and stay indoors during this weather.
The Meteorological Department has predicted hot and humid weather on Saturday and Sunday ranging between 36 to 38 and 29 to 31 degrees centigrade.
