Customs agents foiled an attempt to smuggle illegal spirits and mobile phones through Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.

According to sources, Customs officers detained a traveller, Shehryar Amjad Barar, on suspicion at Jinnah International Airport and confiscated mobile phones and spirits valued more than Rs10 million.

Customs agents seized 68 mobile phones, eight bottles of spirits, and 212 packets of food supplements from the passengers’ luggage.

The passenger was attempting to smuggle mobile phones, spirits, and food supplements in order to avoid taxes,” claimed a Customs spokeswoman.

The traveller was apprehended, and a Customs Act case was opened.
