The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday directed the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to ask a German doctor to treat the elephants. The said doctor has been in contact with KMC regarding the health of the elephants in the past.
Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput asked why the German doctor has not been asked to visit the elephants yet. To which the lawyer replied that the matter was stalled due to KMC officers.
Justice Faisal Kamal Alam said that the concerned officers seemed to be reluctant to invite the doctor. The SHC asked KMC lawyers why it does not have its own doctors to tend to its animals.
Instead of answering the question, the KMC lawyer said that the matter is only being hyped on social media while in reality, all the elephants are completely healthy and well.
Justice Faisal Kamal Alam ordered the KMC officers to contact the German doctor immediately.
The court then adjourned the hearing of the case till November 15.
