Karachi University to conduct exams online

Karachi University has announced that it will be conducting semester and annual examinations online. A notification was issued by the University which stated thatexaminations will be conducted through online mediumsvia Skype, Google Classrooms, Microsoft Teams or Whatsapp.

The notification which was issued by the KU’s Registrar Professor Dr Saleem Shehzad is applicable to colleges that are operating under the annual examination system.

It outlines four modes which are to be employed in conducting these online examinations. These could be in the form of ‘during session assessment’ which include a term paper, case study project, thematic essay, individual or group presentations, class tests or activity, a quiz, e-portfolio, open-book assignment and an individual or group oral examination.

Another mode that teachers can employ is final examinations which will comprise of open-book assessments, essays, final year project, reading and comprehension and a oral examination.

Alternatively, teachers can use practical or lab assessments which will focus only on the methodology part, and students will have to answer orally. The last option available to teachers is supplementary examinations which will be similar to final examinations.

Students who face internet connectivity issues or any medical challenges can request their teacher to conduct their exams orally over the phone.
