Karachi, Lahore record worst air quality across globe

With winter approaching, the air quality in Karachi and Lahore has once again deteriorated, with the two cities leading the list of most polluted cities in Pakistan, suggesting little improvement from the previous year, according to statistics.

Winter in Lahore generally brings pollution, and the air becomes unsafe to breathe.

It’s the same story this year. According to AirVisual’s air quality statistics, Lahore’s air quality has steadily decreased since the beginning of October, slipping into the “unhealthy” category.

However, some relief is predicted later in the month as it is hoped that it will improve from “unhealthy” to “unhealthy for sensitive populations.”

Both cities have harmful levels of pollution, according to IQAir. Lahore’s air quality was 159, making it the world’s most crowded city.

Ranking of cities based on air quality and pollution

Lahore’s AQI was remained the worst at the time of writing the report. Following suit were North Macedonia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and Iran.

Karachi’s air quality, on the other hand, was registered at 154, placing it in the “unhealthy” category. This was the second-worst air quality recorded in the country today.

The highest temperature in the city will remain between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. The humidity level is 70%.
