Karachi imposes ban on open vehicle delivery of fish

In response to environmental concerns, the Commissioner of Karachi has imposed a ban under Section 144 on the delivery of fish through open vehicles in the city. According to the official notification, SHOs (Station House Officers) have been instructed to halt the transportation of fish that is not adequately covered.

The notification grants SHOs the authority to file cases against individuals or entities found violating the ban. The decision comes in alignment with the directives of the caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh, Justice Retired Maqbool Baqir.

The notification highlights that the transportation of fish in open vehicles contributes to air pollution and emits unpleasant odors, prompting the need for regulatory measures. The ban aims to address environmental concerns and enhance the overall quality of air in Karachi. Authorities are expected to enforce the ban strictly to ensure compliance and mitigate the environmental impact associated with the transportation of fish through open vehicles.
