Karachi authorities dismantle weekly bird market in Liaquatabad

In a bid to alleviate traffic congestion and streamline vehicular movement, authorities in Karachi took decisive action on Sunday to dismantle the weekly bird market situated in the Liquatabad area of District Central.

The operation, supervised by Assistant Commissioner Liaquatabad Nadeem Aurangzaib in collaboration with officials from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), police, and traffic police, aimed to address long-standing concerns over the market’s adverse impact on traffic flow along Shahrah-e-Pakistan.

A press statement from the Commissioner’s Office underscored the urgency of the operation, citing the persistent traffic issues caused by the weekly market as a primary motivator for its removal.

Assistant Commissioner Aurangzaib, leading the operation, issued a stern warning to the organizers and bird sellers, cautioning against any future attempts to reestablish the market in the area.

Karachi Commissioner Syed Hasan Naqvi echoed the sentiments of the operation, emphasizing the city’s commitment to eradicating encroachments that impede traffic flow and inconvenience citizens. Naqvi directed all deputy commissioners across Karachi to take proactive measures in removing encroachments from sidewalks and roads, ensuring unobstructed pathways for residents and commuters alike.

The move to dismantle the weekly bird market underscores Karachi’s ongoing efforts to enhance urban infrastructure and streamline traffic management, prioritizing the well-being and convenience of its residents. As authorities maintain vigilance against encroachments, residents anticipate improved traffic conditions and smoother mobility across the city’s thoroughfares.
