International cricketers unite in support of Pakistan after NZ cancellation

International cricketers have come out in support of Pakistan after New Zealand decided to cancel a limited-overs tour of the country on perceived security threats on Friday.

Former West Indies captain Darren Sammy wrote: “I have always felt safe, this is a massive blow to Pakistan.”

Sherfane Rutherford also said that Pakistan is one of the safest countries: “Pakistani is the safest country for cricket and cricket-loving country.”

Sri Lanka’s Angelo Perera recalled his tour with the Sri Lankan team where he enjoyed every bit of it.

The newly appointed Pakistan cricket Board Chairman Ramiz Raja also expressed his disappointment at the decision and called it a “crazy day.”

Babar Azam also tweeted that he was disappointed on New Zealand’s decision to withdraw from the series.

The New Zealand Cricket Board on Friday ‘unilaterally decided to postpone the Pakistan tour’ citing security threats. The decision was taken after their team had already arrived in the country.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had personally assured foolproof security for the team to New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.
