The Ministry of National Health Services has directed the implementation of public health measures for monkeypox in line with guidance issued by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Then Federal Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel chaired a special meeting to review the situation and discuss measures to prevent the spread of monkeypox in Pakistan.
During the meeting, officials stressed the need for effective monitoring and surveillance of the virus and instructed relevant authorities to remain vigilant.
The health minister directed hospitals across the country to take necessary precautionary measures regarding monkeypox.
Health authorities were also instructed to strengthen monitoring so that any suspected case could be identified and managed promptly.
According to figures presented at the time, around 16,000 monkeypox cases had been reported in 75 countries worldwide.
However, officials said that no case of monkeypox had been reported in Pakistan at that time.
The meeting focused on strengthening preparedness and surveillance to prevent the virus from spreading in the country.
