Health Ministry recommends 10 days lockdown in Karachi

Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho has recommended 10 days lock-down in Karachi as the positivity ratio in the city exceeds to 23%.


However, the final decision will be taken in the meeting of coronavirus taskforce of Sindh government. The largest metropolitan city has observed a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases, of them 93% are diagnosed with Delta variant.


The positivity ratio ascended as the city hits 1,236 new cases in the last 24 hours.


Provincial government has advised to wear masks, maintain social distancing and follow coronavirus SOPs.


Earlier the decision was also taken by Provincial government to shut all the schools from primary to secondary, however, those who were having their exams were allowed to conduct.


Moreover, access to picnic points such as Seaview, Hawkesbay, and the Keenjhar Lake has been banned. Indoor sports activities and recreational facilities such as cinemas and amusement parks are closed too.
