In a remarkable display of academic excellence, female students have secured all three top positions in the 2024 annual matriculation examinations for the General Group (both regular and private), as well as for students with hearing and speech impairments, according to the Karachi Secondary Education Board’s official announcement.
The top achievers in the General Group Regular category hailed from Iqra Huffaz Girls Secondary School, where Laiba Bint Muhammad Waseem clinched the first position with an impressive 88.45% marks. Close on her heels was Habiba Munir Bint Munir Ahmed, who secured the second position with 88.18% marks. The third position was taken by Ansharah Bint Muhammad Taufiq, also from Iqra Huffaz Girls Secondary School, with 88.09% marks.
General Group Performance Overview
A total of 16,384 candidates were registered for the General Group exams, with 16,131 appearing and 253 marked absent. The General Group Regular exams saw participation from 10,845 candidates, consisting of 2,858 boys and 7,817 girls. The overall pass percentage for this category stood at 62.65%. Among the successful candidates, 93 students achieved A-1 grades, 846 secured A grades, 2,085 obtained B grades, 2,581 earned C grades, 1,056 received D grades, and 27 students passed with E grades.
In the Private General Group, 5,456 candidates appeared, including 3,635 boys and 1,821 girls, with a pass percentage of 51.43%. The results showed that 8 students secured A-1 grades, 192 achieved A grades, 789 obtained B grades, 1,268 received C grades, 537 earned D grades, and 12 students passed with E grades.
The combined pass percentage for both the General Group Regular and Private categories was recorded at 58.86%.
Outstanding Achievements of Students with Hearing and Speech Impairments
Female students also shined in the category for students with hearing and speech impairments, with all three top positions claimed by students from DEWA Academy for the Deaf, Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Amjad Azam, son of Muhammad Azam, secured the first position with 87.45% marks. Maryam Bibi, daughter of Tanveer Ahmed, achieved second place with an outstanding 89.36% marks, while Taha Ahmed, son of Wasal Ahmed, earned third place with 89.00% marks.
