The Sindh High Court (SHC) Sukkur Bench has directed the Sindh government to urgently establish 10 tent cities across the province for people affected by floods and recent heavy rains.

The directive was issued by a bench headed by Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput while hearing a case concerning the devastation caused by rains and floods in different parts of Sindh.
During the hearing, the SHC bench expressed displeasure over the district administrationās handling of relief and rescue operations.
The court questioned the commissioner about the number of people rescued so far and the facilities being provided to those displaced by the floods.
The bench directed the provincial government to speed up the establishment of the 10 tent cities and ensure that displaced families receive essential food and medical facilities.
The court also ordered the formation of citizen committees to monitor relief activities.
According to the directive, the committees would work under the supervision of civil judges to help oversee the distribution and provision of assistance to flood-affected people.
The bench further directed the Sindh government to issue necessary instructions for repairing canal breaches and submit a report regarding the provinceās rainwater and floodwater drainage arrangements.
Meanwhile, residents of the Katcha areas have reportedly started moving towards safer locations as the Indus River continues to experience high flood levels.
The source reported that more than 500,000 cubic feet per second (cusecs) of water was flowing through the Sukkur, Guddu and Taunsa barrages.
The worsening flood situation has increased concerns for communities living in vulnerable areas along the river, with residents seeking safer locations to protect themselves and their families.
