The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has begun work on a computerised map of the city, as directed by Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab.
Wahab stated that the interactive map, dubbed ‘Know Your Karachi,’ will be made available on the KMC website shortly.
On Tuesday, he made these remarks during a meeting with Municipal Commissioner Syed Afzal Zaidi. “The trend of upgrading civic service delivery with the use of contemporary technologies will continue,” he stated.
At the KMC, Wahab examined the production of the “unique” digital map for the first time. He stated that the goal of producing a new digital map was to convey crucial city information.
He stated that once the map is completed, all important information, such as municipal services, the applicable police station, wards, UCs, fire stations, hospitals, universities, colleges, public areas, playgrounds, parks, and libraries, would be available in one location.
The map will also include information regarding bus routes and postboxes, which will be put to the KMC’s website. The municipal administrator stated that the city would appreciate community comments and recommendations to enhance the map.
He went on to say that current digital maps in this kind had been created in all major cities across the world and posted to the internet so that inhabitants, visitors, and others could obtain information.
The map allows consumers to find transit and travel options that are convenient for them.
