In a massive operation, Pakistan Customs in Karachi seized non-duty-paid goods worth more than Rs 160 million.
The Pakistan Customs anti-smuggling team conducted the raids in various Karachi neighbourhoods.
The Pakistani customs team seized huge quantities of betel nuts, cigarettes, and gutka from a bus after acting on a tip-off in Liaquatabad. The record-breaking items reportedly cost Rs. 26 million.
In separate raids, the anti-smuggling team of customs also found tempered, non-duty-paid vehicles. The spokesperson for Pakistan Customs confirmed that the value of the vehicles seized is reportedly Rs60.5.
Dry milk with an unpaid duty, men’s and women’s suits, tyres, tiles, cosmetics, food, and other items with a market value of Rs68.1 million were also seized. The spokesperson further said action against non-duty goods will continue to make those accountable who are denting national kitty.
