Following the revelation of irregularities in the results of examinations administered by the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK), college principals have joined parents in demanding thorough rechecks of answer copies to ensure fairness and justice for students.
The demand for rechecks comes after the Sindh caretaker government approved the granting of grace marks to students affected by the discrepancies. This decision followed the findings of a three-member investigative committee, which uncovered extensive irregularities in the exam results.
Rejecting the decision to award grace marks, college principals have called for comprehensive rechecks of answer copies to rectify the anomalies and uphold the integrity of the examination process.
The investigative committee, appointed by the Sindh caretaker Chief Minister, uncovered tampering in the results of English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics exams. Eight officers of the Karachi intermediate board were implicated in the scandal, with former chairmen Dr. Saeedudin and Naseem Memon among those held responsible.
In response to the committee’s findings, the Sindh government has initiated legal action, penning a letter to the anti-corruption department to pursue cases against the individuals deemed responsible for the tampering. The move underscores the government’s commitment to accountability and transparency in the education sector.
