Barbie movie gets green light for screening in Punjab cinemas

The Punjab Censor Board has given its approval for the screening of the blockbuster hit “Barbie” movie in cinemas across the province, as announced by Provincial Minister for Information and Culture, Amir Mir, on Tuesday.

Initially, the movie was withdrawn from cinemas in Punjab due to alleged “pro-LGBT” content, shortly after its release, causing disappointment among eager moviegoers. However, following the directives of interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the full board conducted a review of the Hollywood film.

Provincial Minister Amir Mir stated that the screening of the movie was halted earlier for its “objectionable content,” which was then sent to the censor board. After careful review by the board’s members, including Chairman Tauqeer Nasir, the movie has been cleared for screening with the necessary censoring of objectionable content.

“The Barbie movie will soon be released in cinemas in Punjab,” confirmed the provincial minister.

“Barbie” has been a highly anticipated and celebrated movie worldwide since its release on July 21, with a star-studded cast featuring Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken. The film has been well-received by audiences, grossing over $351 million in the US and Canada and nearly $775 million globally since its opening weekend.
