Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan secure top spots in ICC T20I Rankings

Pakistani cricket stars Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have maintained their high rankings in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, securing third and fourth positions respectively. Their consistent performances have kept them among the top players globally, showcasing their prowess in the shortest format of the game.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Nabi’s tenure at the top of the ICC Men’s T20I All-rounder Rankings has ended, with Australia’s Marcus Stoinis taking the lead. Stoinis delivered remarkable performances, including taking six wickets and making significant contributions with the bat, propelling Australia through to the Super Eight stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with an unblemished record.

Stoinis’ standout moment came with his 2/9 against Namibia and a crucial 59 from 29 balls against Scotland, lifting Australia from a precarious position to a commanding win. Wanindu Hasaranga and Shakib Al Hasan follow Stoinis in the top three, with Nabi now in fourth place.

In the bowling department, West Indies’ players have shown impressive form. Akeal Hosein has surged up six places to second in the ICC T20I Bowling Rankings, just behind England’s Adil Rashid. Alzarri Joseph and Gudakesh Motie have also made significant climbs, with Joseph nearing the top ten and Motie moving up to 13th.

On the batting side, the top four remain unchanged with Suryakumar Yadav and Phil Salt leading, followed by Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. Australian opener Travis Head and West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran have made notable advances, with Head moving to fifth and Pooran climbing to 11th.

Sherfane Rutherford’s extraordinary 68* against New Zealand has also earned him a jump in the rankings, rising 43 places to 42nd. His performance highlights the dynamic shifts in player standings as the T20 World Cup progresses.
