The alleged perpetrator of rape and murder of a teenage girl in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Thursday was overpowered by locals as he fled, according to the police.
The body of the 14-year-old girl was discovered inside her home close to the Mosamiyat neighbourhood, according to Mobina Town SHO Ahmed Mustafa. She was choked.
Doctors at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre confirmed that she had been the victim of a sexual assault after the body was transported there.
According to the local SHO, the alleged murderer had previously worked as a plumber in the girl’s home and broke in on Thursday while her parents were away. He continued, “The suspect did not stop, raped and strangled her despite the girl’s resistance and alarm.
He said that he was fleeing when area people spotted him and overpowered him. The police rushed to the spot and took him into custody.
