Flour now costs Rs150/kg

After the flour mill strike in Karachi, the price of flour has risen to Rs150/kg in the port city.

The flour crisis in Karachi is worsening as the product disappears from the market owing to flour mill strikes.

According to Chaudhry Aamir, head of the Flour Mills Association Sindh, as many as 90 flour mills in Karachi are closed, and the Sindh food department is attempting to compel them to reopen.

The flour mills in Karachi have gone on strike indefinitely in protest of the ‘illegal’ searches.

According to the association’s representative, six flour mills were ‘illegally’ sealed by officials in Karachi and Nawabshah yesterday.

The association demanded the government to reopen the floor mills and the provision of cheap and standard wheat.

The owners announced to close flour mills across Sindh until their demands are met.
