The Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered on Friday that local body elections be held in the province’s two major cities, Karachi and Hyderabad, within four weeks.
The petitions were heard by a two-member bench led by Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh, and the SHC read the reserved verdict today against petitions filed by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) over delays in elections in two Sindh cities.
The Sindh government was ordered to provide security and other facilities for the polls after the court directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to release the election schedule.
