Addressing the National Assembly, the Prime Minister said the government had already committed to transferring the benefit of lower petrol prices directly to citizens, and therefore a significant reduction in fuel prices will be announced today.

He stated that Pakistan’s name is being recognised with honour and dignity internationally, adding that the country’s standing has improved across different regions.

Shehbaz Sharif noted that around three months ago, the US-Israel war against Iran had caused a sharp rise in global oil prices. However, after the ceasefire, prices have started declining rapidly, with further reductions expected in the coming days.

He said the easing of tensions would also support regional economic stability and broader prosperity, while describing the recent period of high prices as a “dark phase” that is now ending.
