SSGC has announced a temporary nighttime gas suspension in several Karachi areas on June 20 and 21.
The shutdown is required to complete the final phase of high-pressure gas pipeline relocation work at the K-IV project site.
Gas supply in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and some major institutions may be affected between 10:00 PM and 10:00 AM.

Gas supply to remain temporarily suspended in several areas of Karachi during the night from June 20 and 21, as per the latest announcement by Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) on Friday.

As per the official statement of SSGC, this temporarily gas shutdown is necessary due to the hook-up activity related to the relocation of high-pressure gas pipeline.

According to the statement shared by SSGC official spokesperson Salman A. Siddiqui, the relocation work of the 20-inch high-pressure gas pipeline at the K-IV project site on university road – between NIPA Bridge and Isa Nagri DMS near Hassan Square – has been completed.

However, in order to complete the final phase of the project the gas need to be temporarily suspended to facilitate the work, the statement added.

During the shutdown period, gas supply will remain suspended in multiple areas, including all blocks of Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

In addition, gas supply to Karachi Central Prison, Aga Khan University Hospital, Liaquat National Hospital, and Medicare Hospital may also be temporarily affected during nighttime hours.

SSGC teams will conduct the activity from 10:00 PM to 10:00 AM. The company said efforts will be made to complete the work within the scheduled timeframe and restore gas supply as soon as possible.

SSGC expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience caused to consumers.

Last month, SSGC has announced its official gas supply schedule for Eid ul Adha 2026, confirming extended gas availability for domestic and commercial consumers during the three days of Eid.

In its official announcement, the company extended Eid greetings to customers and stated that special arrangements have been made to facilitate households during the festive period when gas demand traditionally increases.

According to the schedule, gas supply on Chaand Raat, Tuesday May 26, 2026, will remain available until 12:00 midnight to support cooking and Eid preparations across Karachi and other areas under the company’s network.

From Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the first day of Eid, until Friday, May 29, 2026, the third day of Eid, gas supply will resume daily at 7:30 am and continue uninterrupted throughout the day.

SSGC further clarified that gas supply will remain available until 12:00 midnight on the first and second days of Eid. However, on Friday, the third day of Eid, supply will continue until 10:00 pm.

The company also confirmed that from Saturday, May 30, 2026, the regular gas load management schedule will resume, under which gas is supplied mainly during designated meal timings.
