Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Karachi, Mazhar Nawaz Sheikh, has cancelled all leaves of traffic police personnel ahead of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure smooth traffic flow across the city.
The decision was formally announced through an official order issued by the DIG Traffic office.
According to Mazhar Nawaz Sheikh, the step has been taken to manage the expected surge in traffic during the holy month, especially during peak hours.

He said additional police personnel will be deployed during the pre-iftar rush, when roads across Karachi witness heavy congestion as citizens head home or to markets before breaking their fast.
Special traffic arrangements will also be made during the last ten days of Ramadan, when shopping activity increases significantly before Eid.

The DIG emphasized that no leaves will be granted during this period, except in cases of genuine emergencies. He directed all officers to strictly implement the orders and ensure discipline within the department.
Karachi typically faces severe traffic congestion during Ramadan, particularly around major commercial areas and shopping centers. Authorities expect increased vehicle parking outside malls and markets in the final days of the month, requiring heavy deployment of traffic police to maintain order.
