The Citizen-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) released its monthly report on the crime statistics which showed street crimes remaining at a high in January 2020.

As per the report, snatching of two wheeler vehicles was high. Statistics show over 90 bikes were stolen over the last month of January while the police only managed to recover 285 stoles vehicles from the thieves. 191 cases of four wheeler thefts were also recorded in January.

Mobile snatchings across the city were also high and 1912 incidents were reported in January as compared to the 1,865 cases from December. 90 street murders and 2 cases of kidnapping for ransom also occurred during the last month.

The soar in crime rates comes at a shock amidst police claims of increased performance by the police department.

In the month of December 2,546 two-wheelers were stolen and 151 were snatched at gun point out of which only 395 were recovered.
