Urban flooding expected in Karachi as PMD forecast heavy rains

Karachi Monsoon rain

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued forecast for heavy rain in Karachi after which urban flooding is expected in the metropolis and various parts of Sindh.

Gusty winds and thunderstorms are expected to hit Hyderabad, Karachi, Sukkur, Thatta, and more, potentially bringing severe weather disruptions.

Authorities have been directed to remain alert and take immediate precautionary measures.

Heavy downpours may lead to urban flooding in low-lying areas, especially in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, and Mirpurkhas.

Flash flooding is likely in hill torrents and streams in Dadu and Kambar Shahdadkot districts, with scattered heavy rainfalls also anticipated throughout the period.

The strong windstorms and lightning could impact daily life and damage electric poles, rooftops of weak structures, and even solar panels and billboards.

There is also a risk to vehicles parked near trees or poorly secured areas. Citizens are urged to stay updated with weather alerts and act cautiously.
