Light to moderate rain in Karachi brings relief from air pollution

Several parts of Karachi experienced light to moderate rain early Monday morning, providing relief from the city’s air pollution. The drizzle was reported in various areas, including Ayesha Manzil, Azizabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, FB Area, Safoora Chowrangi, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, University Road, Site Area, Habib Chowrangi, Shahrai-e-Faisal, Saddar, and M.A Jinnah Road, among others.

Karachi has been grappling with poor air quality, described as “very unhealthy” by health experts. The rain is expected to help mitigate pollution levels by settling particles and improving air quality. The phenomenon is common during the winter season, where the air becomes heavier, causing pollutants to move downwards and leading to increased pollution levels.

The relief from air pollution is crucial for the health and well-being of Karachi’s residents. The rain is expected to have a positive impact on air quality, providing a temporary respite from the hazardous conditions and allowing citizens to breathe cleaner air. However, addressing the long-term challenges of air pollution in the city will require sustained efforts and measures to control pollution sources.
