Karachi’s primary electricity provider – K-Electric has announced scheduled power outage in several parts of Karachi on August 28, 2026, as the utility carries out routine maintenance on 20 feeders across the city.

According to K-Electric, power supply will be temporarily suspended in affected areas between 8am and 6pm, although the exact duration of the outages will differ depending on the maintenance work being carried out on each feeder.
The power utility said the planned shutdowns are part of its regular maintenance programme, aimed at improving the reliability, stability and overall performance of Karachi’s electricity distribution network.
K-Electric clarified that the scheduled interruptions are separate from unexpected power outages caused by technical problems, tripping, equipment faults or excessive load on the system.
Residents in areas linked to the affected feeders have been advised to check the scheduled outage timings and make arrangements accordingly to minimise inconvenience.

Consumers connected to any of the 20 feeders undergoing maintenance on August 28 may experience temporary interruptions during the respective maintenance windows.
The utility has urged residents in the affected localities to plan essential electricity-dependent activities ahead of the scheduled shutdowns.

If Your Area Is Affected
- Charge phones, laptops, and any backup devices ahead of the scheduled window.
- If you rely on an electric water pump, fill storage tanks before the outage begins.
- Avoid opening fridges/freezers unnecessarily during the outage to keep food cold longer.
Power should restore automatically at the listed end time – if it doesn’t come back within an hour of the scheduled end, that likely indicates a separate fault, not the planned maintenance.
