The Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) have located the wreckage of a missing K2 Airways cargo aircraft after conducting a search operation that lasted more than 12 hours.

According to officials, the wreckage was found around 53 nautical miles south of the Ormara coast. Rescue teams are continuing search operations in the area to recover further evidence and locate the five crew members.
The Pakistan Navy and PMSA have deployed both naval and aerial assets as part of the ongoing search and rescue mission.

The K2 Airways cargo aircraft had gone missing while travelling from Sharjah to Karachi. Authorities are continuing efforts at the crash site, while the cause of the incident has yet to be determined.
Earlier, K2 Airways confirmed that its Boeing 737 cargo aircraft, bearing registration AP-BOI, lost contact with air traffic control at 9:21 p.m. on Wednesday while operating a flight from Sharjah to Karachi.

The airline said five crew members were on board the aircraft: Captain Muhammad Rizwan, First Officer Faisal Mahmood, Loadmaster Muhammad Toufiq Khan, Engineer Arif Siddiqui, and Muhammad Hamid.

Engineer Arif Siddiqui’s son said his father was employed by Northern Tec. He added that the company’s manager had visited the family home and remained in contact with them, while officials from the Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy were also in touch with the family.
According to the family, Engineer Arif Siddiqui is survived by his wife, five sons, and three daughters.
K2 Airways said it is fully cooperating with the Civil Aviation Authority and other agencies involved in the response and will provide further updates as more information becomes available.

As part of the search effort, the Pakistan Navy deployed warships PNS Zulfiqar and PNS Hunain, while a Pakistan Air Force SAAB aircraft and a Pakistan Navy ATR aircraft joined the aerial search operation.
In addition, the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) merchant vessel Lahore has been tasked to support the ongoing search and rescue mission.
