Pakistan has taken a major step toward digital governance by approving a Pakistan passport doorstep delivery service aimed at improving convenience, transparency, and efficiency for citizens.
The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has finalized Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the new initiative, which will allow citizens to receive passports at their homes without visiting passport offices.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Director General Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa.
Officials reviewed progress on the department’s digital transformation, including improvements to the mobile application, online application system, and real-time tracking features.
According to officials, the new passport delivery system will significantly reduce long queues at passport offices and minimize administrative bottlenecks.
Citizens will be able to complete most of the process online, including application submission, fee payment, and appointment scheduling, while biometric verification will remain part of the initial process at designated centers.
