The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Pakistan, Mr. Iqbal Hussain, visited Karachi Metropolitan University along with his delegation on Tuesday, April 10.

He was warmly received by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Wasim Qazi, while senior members of the university administration were also present on the occasion.

During the visit, the High Commissioner and his delegation held meetings with the university administration and faculty members.

Detailed discussions focused on enhancing bilateral academic cooperation, including the initiation of student exchange programs, joint research initiatives, and other collaborative opportunities.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen academic linkages between institutions in Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Mr. Iqbal Hussain toured various university facilities, including the modern library, girls’ common room, girls’ hostel, auditorium, and scientific laboratories.

He appreciated the university’s academic standards, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and the professional competence of its faculty, acknowledging Karachi Metropolitan University’s significant contributions to higher education.
He noted that the Governments of Pakistan and Bangladesh are actively undertaking initiatives to strengthen bilateral relations, with education identified as a key priority.

Collaborative academic programs, scholarships, research partnerships, and exchange initiatives were highlighted as vital components in fostering mutual understanding and long-term cooperation.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Wasim Qazi, briefed the High Commissioner on the university’s degree programs, academic framework, and research activities.
He stated that the university is committed to building a strong educational bridge between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Highlighting the importance of student diplomacy, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that students play a pivotal role in strengthening bilateral relations.

“Student exchange programs are not only a means of academic growth but also an effective way to bring the youth of both countries closer,” he remarked.
Prof. Dr. Wasim Qazi further assured that Karachi Metropolitan University will provide excellent academic opportunities and a supportive environment for students from Bangladesh.
“We will ensure that Bangladeshi students feel at home here; however, there will be no compromise on academic standards and class attendance,” he added.
