In view of the evolving regional situation and operational requirements, the Pakistan Airports Authority has issued a new NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) announcing temporary closure of selected air routes within the Karachi and Lahore Flight Information Regions (FIRs).
According to the officials, different sectors of the Karachi and Lahore FIRs will remain closed for commercial flights from March 3 to March 31, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM daily.
During these hours, the specified airspace will not be available for commercial aviation operations.
Reports indicate that the temporary restrictions are likely linked to scheduled training exercises involving fighter aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force. However, authorities have not disclosed detailed operational reasons in the public notice.
Airlines have been advised to plan alternative routes during the restricted timings to avoid disruptions.
Passengers traveling during the affected dates or times are advised to stay in contact with their respective airlines for updated flight schedules, as some flights may experience route adjustments or minor delays.
The Pakistan Airports Authority confirmed that the NOTAM has been formally issued and all relevant stakeholders have been informed.
