The petitioner, represented by Advocate Haseeb Jamali, argued that service roads are critical for smooth traffic flow and their legal status cannot be overridden.
He further stressed that the town administration does not have legal authority to alter the status of service roads.

According to the petitioner, illegal commercial encroachments on these roads not only disrupt traffic but also increase the risk of accidents and endanger lives.

In their written comments, the town administration defended the food street, stating that it was established for public convenience and currently houses 144 temporary shops and stalls.
However, the court dismissed these arguments, declaring that no commercial activity is permitted on the service road.
The bench ordered its immediate removal, reinforcing the legal importance of maintaining service roads for traffic and safety purposes.
