Pakistan has launched a state-of-the-art monitoring system to ensure complete oversight of passport applications, from submission to final delivery.
The system, named Secure Hybrid Intelligence for Knowledge Band Response Analytics (SHIKRA), was formally inaugurated by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi during his visit to the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports.
According to officials, the SHIKRA system has been developed to track every stage of the passport process, including application submission, verification, printing, and delivery.

The system is designed to improve transparency, efficiency, and accountability within the passport department.
Speaking on the occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that Pakistan’s passport system has now been aligned with international standards and practices followed by leading countries.

He said the government aims to provide fast, secure, and reliable services to citizens both inside Pakistan and abroad.
The minister explained that the new system allows real-time monitoring of passport applications and deliveries across the country and overseas missions.

Every step of the process will remain under continuous digital supervision, reducing delays and improving service quality.
Officials said the system will also help evaluate departmental performance through a digital integrated dashboard that monitors daily operations and staff efficiency.
Additionally, the technology can automatically identify overcrowding at passport offices, enabling authorities to take timely action to manage workload and improve customer experience.
Mohsin Naqvi stated that the security features of Pakistani passports have been upgraded in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.

He added that the introduction of advanced automated German machines has significantly increased passport printing capacity.
According to the interior minister, the automated printing process has eliminated human intervention, which is expected to reduce errors and the risk of irregularities.
During his visit, he also toured the e-monitoring room, call centre, forensic laboratory, and modern production unit of the passport department.
