A 26-year-old German doctor has traveled to Pakistan to marry a 22-year-old man she met through the online video game Roblox, in a story that has captured social media attention.
Muhammad Akmal, a resident of Daffar village in Mandi Bahauddin, connected with Dr. Selma from Germany while playing Roblox.

Over five months of online conversations, their bond grew, eventually leading Selma to travel to Pakistan to marry Akmal.
“We were in contact for five months, and now Selma came to Pakistan to marry me,” Akmal shared in an interview.
He recalled their early interactions, saying, “I proposed to Selma on the very first day of our conversation. At first, she hesitated a bit to travel to Pakistan, but later, she agreed.”
Akmal noted that his family fully supported the marriage.

“Over 3.7 million rupees were spent on the travel and wedding ceremony,” he added.
Dr. Selma, who holds both German and Bosnian nationality, is now adjusting to life in a Pakistani village.
She described her initial experiences with everyday chores, saying, “When I came to Pakistan and saw village life and daily chores, I was shocked at first, but I am happy to be with my husband.”
She added, “Although it felt difficult in the first few days, I gradually learned tasks like washing dishes, clothes, and making bread.”
Selma is also learning Urdu and Punjabi to communicate better with her new family.
