Petrol prices in Pakistan are expected to decline from January 1, 2026, as reports suggest a significant cut may be announced, offering relief to consumers facing high fuel costs.

According to local media reports, petrol prices are likely to decrease by Rs 10.60 per litre for the next fortnight, effective from the new year.

The report further stated that the price of high-speed diesel may also be reduced by Rs 8.59 per litre during the same period.

These anticipated reductions are based on pricing calculations prepared by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), according to the report.

The report said OGRA is expected to forward its fuel price recommendations to the Petroleum Division on December 31 for further processing.

After receiving the summary, the Petroleum Division will seek final approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif before officially announcing the new fuel prices.

Once approved, the revised prices will be notified and implemented nationwide for the upcoming fortnight starting January 1st, 2026.
