Following the implementation of e-challan, many citizens in Karachi are facing a troubling situation where they continue receiving fines for the vehicles they sold years ago.
This issue has become widespread because many buyers are not transferring the ownership of the vehicle, leaving the “remove sold vehicle from first owner name” process incomplete, causing legal responsibility of the vehicle to remain with the first owner.
Officials stated the problem mostly arises when buyers disappear or avoid registering vehicles in their own names, leaving sellers helpless when fines and notices arrive unexpectedly.

To address this growing concern, authorities have introduced a simple and legal solution allowing sellers to officially remove sold vehicles from their ownership records without court proceedings.
Step 1:
The first step requires visiting any nearby Easypaisa, JazzCash or facilitation center to complete biometric verification related to vehicle transfer documentation.
Citizens are advised to safely keep proof of biometric verification, as it confirms their intent to initiate the ownership transfer process through official channels.
Step 2:
After completing biometrics, the next step involves downloading the official Excise and Taxation Department mobile application on a smartphone device.
Step 3:
Once installed, users must open the “Sold Vehicle” option available within the application interface to begin the removal process.
The applicant must enter the vehicle or motorcycle registration number, chassis number, national identity card number, and captcha code before selecting the verification option.
Step 4:
After verification, the system will prompt the user to enter the vehicle’s sale date and specify whether it was sold to an individual or a company.
If sold to a private individual, the buyer’s CNIC number must be entered, while company sales require providing the NTN number, if available.

The seller must also enter the buyer’s full name correctly before submitting the application through the mobile system for processing.
Step 5:
Once the application is submitted, the Excise Department reviews the request and updates official records accordingly without requiring buyer presence.
Step 6:
After approval, the sold vehicle is removed from the seller’s name and permanently blacklisted to prevent misuse or illegal transfer.
This ensures that traffic violations, challans, or legal liabilities are no longer linked to the original owner after successful processing.
Authorities confirmed there are no government charges for completing the remove sold vehicle from name procedure using the mobile application.

However, a small service fee is charged by facilitation centers for biometric verification, depending on the service provider.
Officials strongly advise citizens to complete ownership transfers immediately after selling any vehicle to avoid future legal complications.
The new digital process aims to protect citizens, improve record accuracy, and reduce the growing number of disputed e-challan complaints.
