Pakistan Army tightened its hold on the National Games medal tally on Wednesday, surpassing the 100-gold milestone after a series of commanding performances across athletics, swimming, rowing and team sports at the 35th National Games.
By the end of the day’s events, Army remained firmly at the top with 113 gold, 50 silver and 34 bronze medals.

WAPDA stayed in second place with 46 golds, while Pakistan Navy followed in third with 24 top finishes.

The action began with the men’s marathon, where Pakistan Navy’s Shahbaz Masih claimed first place by completing the 42.195km route, starting from the Quaid-e-Azam monument and moving through several city roads, in 2 hours and 25 minutes.
WAPDA’s Sher Khan secured second place, and Navy’s Shoaib Akhtar finished third.

WAPDA’s Faiqa Riaz continued her impressive run by winning the women’s long jump with a 5.52m leap, completing a hat-trick of gold medals after earlier victories in the 100m and 200m sprints.
Army maintained its strength on the track as well, with Usman Ali winning the men’s 200m, Mohammad Akhtar taking the 10,000m crown and Ismail earning gold in the 400m event.
WAPDA dominated several women’s events, with Uzma Awan taking the hammer throw, Iram Shehzadi winning the 1500m race and Ghazala Ramzan clinching the 100m hurdles.
In swimming, Army’s Ahmed Durrani completed a rare double hat-trick, bringing his gold tally to six after wins in the 800m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 200m relay.

WAPDA’s Hamza Asif set a new national record in the men’s 50m breaststroke, while Jehanara Nabi impressed once again in women’s events and Sindh’s Hareem added another gold.
Army’s dominance continued in rowing with five golds and one silver, while Navy earned two golds and five silvers.
In women’s weightlifting, honours were shared between Army and WAPDA.
Army’s Khadija Waheed (69kg) and Sonia Azmat (77kg), while WAPDA’s Nazia Aslam (86-plus kg) and Nadia Maqsood (86kg) topped their divisions.
Navy strengthened its standing in shooting by winning four more golds, while Army took home two.

Karate also went in Army’s favour, with victories in both the men’s and women’s categories.
Army extended its edge in team sports as well, beating WAPDA to win gold in women’s football and women’s softball, remaining unbeaten throughout the single-league football format.
In squash, the finals lineup took shape as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mahnoor Ali and Army’s Zainab reached the women’s final, while WAPDA’s Noor Zaman and Army’s Huzaifa Ibrahim progressed to the men’s singles title match.
