Karachi traffic authorities have barred inter-city buses from entering the city without following designated rules and have issued the first e-challan.

The move has added a fresh challenge for transport operators and is aimed at controlling traffic congestion and ensuring public safety.

According to a spokesperson for the traffic police, buses entering Karachi directly, instead of using the approved Sohrab Goth or Karachi Bus Terminal, will be penalized.

“Drivers of vehicles violating these rules will face strict legal measures, and repeated offenses will result in additional action,” the spokesperson said.

The authorities have made it clear that intercity buses must operate strictly within the boundaries of the designated terminals.

They warned that unauthorized entry of buses into the city disrupts traffic flow, increases the risk of accidents, and causes inconvenience for local commuters.

All transport operators have been instructed to comply fully with traffic laws and ensure that their vehicles use only the approved terminals.

Failure to follow these instructions will trigger further enforcement actions, including heavier fines and possible legal proceedings.

The e-challan system is part of a broader effort by Karachi traffic authorities to regulate intercity travel and maintain road safety in the city.

By ensuring that buses adhere to the rules, the authorities aim to reduce congestion, improve commuter safety, and streamline transport operations in the city.
