The Sindh government has approved several major transport initiatives for Karachi and other districts of the province, aiming to improve public travel facilities in the coming weeks.
The decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.
The session was attended by Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, SMTA Managing Director Kanwal Nizam Bhutto, TransKarachi CEO Fawad Ghaffar Soomro, and Yellow Line BRT PD Zameer Abbasi.

Officials briefed the minister on the progress of development work on the Yellow Line and Red Line BRT projects.
The meeting also discussed the planned launch of an EV taxi service in Karachi and the second phase of the Pink Scooties Scheme.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said he expects the new double-decker buses and electric buses to arrive in Karachi by next week.
He added that the government is preparing to start a new double-decker route along with additional EV bus routes for the city.
The minister further announced that the Sindh government aims to introduce the EV taxi service by December and bring in 500 more buses during the current financial year.
He also confirmed that new routes under the People’s Bus Service will soon be launched in other districts of Sindh.
Sharjeel Inam Memon directed transport officials to complete all operational requirements for the new routes.

He also revealed that training programmes for women and female students to learn scooty riding are being launched across all divisional headquarters.
Speaking about ongoing projects, he said round-the-clock work is underway on the Yellow Line BRT, and the government wants to complete it as soon as possible.
He instructed authorities to speed up remaining development work and finish depot construction without delay.
The minister noted that the second phase of work on the Taj Haider Flyover will begin soon, while two-way traffic has already opened on the bridge from today.
He stressed that utility shifting for the Yellow Line must be completed quickly to avoid slowing down construction.
