The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued an urgent reminder to all married citizens to update their marital status in official records as soon as possible in order to avoid potential legal complications.

Officials from NADRA’s local chapters observed that while many individuals had registered their marriages with the Union Council, this information had yet to be reflected in the NADRA database.

Authorities emphasized the importance of visiting NADRA centers quickly to ensure their marital status is accurately recorded.

NADRA’s aim in updating its citizens database is to ensure a comprehensive and accurate picture. To facilitate this effort, NADRA has implemented an SMS notification service which alerts married citizens when it may be time for updates.

Citizens seeking assistance may contact NADRA’s helpline on 1777 (mobile users only) or on its official website at www.nadra.gov.pk for guidance.

Earlier to this, the government of Pakistan has provided a major facility for the citizens, announcing to make the first identity card for free of cost within 15 days.

According to NADRA, citizens will receive their first Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) without an embedded chip free of charge within 15 days.

NADRA has issued an open invitation to citizens who have reached 18 and don’t yet possess a CNIC to visit any nearby center, complete the registration process, and secure their initial CNIC without incurring a fee.

Under law, upon reaching 18 years of age citizen becomes eligible to obtain their own ID card as well as take part in general elections.
