The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced a 16-member squad for the ODI series against Sri Lanka.

The ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from November 11 to 15, with the toss scheduled at 2:00 pm and the first ball to be bowled at 2:30 pm.

It marks the first ODI series between the two sides in six years.

The last time Pakistan and Sri Lanka played an ODI series, Pakistan won 2-0, with one match ending without a result due to rain.

The Pakistan ODI squad is the same as the one playing in the South Africa series.

The PCB also replaced former ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan, under whom Pakistan lost their last ODI series against the West Indies after 34 years, with left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is currently leading Pakistan in the ODI series against South Africa.

Series Schedule and Venues

The first One Day International (ODI) will take place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, on November 11, while the second and third ODIs will be held at the same venue on November 13 and November 15.

Following the ODI series, Pakistan will play a tri-nation T20I series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, scheduled between November 17 and November 29.

Head-to-Head: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka in ODIs

Pakistan and Sri Lanka have faced each other in 157 ODI matches to date.

Pakistan hold an impressive lead, having won 93 matches, their best record in ODIs, while Sri Lanka have emerged victorious in 59 encounters.

However, four matches ended with no result and one was tied.

In their last encounter during the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, Pakistan completed the highest-ever chase in World Cup history to emerge victorious.

Before that, Sri Lanka edged past Pakistan in their Asia Cup 2023 encounter, securing victory in a last-ball thriller to qualify for the final and eliminate Pakistan from the tournament.

Sanath Jayasuriya leads the all-time run-scorers in Pakistan vs Sri lanka ODIs with 2517 runs, including 3 centuries and 18 fifties.

He is followed by another former Sri Lankan great, Aravinda de Silva, with 2,319 runs.

Among Pakistani players, Inzamam-ul-Haq tops the chart with 2265 runs.

Among active players, Angelo Mathews leads the chart with 917 runs, including seven fifties, followed by Pakistan’s Umar Akmal with 772 runs and Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal with 637 runs, including three fifties.

Active players expected to feature prominently in the upcoming series include former Pakistan captain Babar Azam (535 runs, three centuries and one fifty), Sri Lanka’s Kusal Perera (445 runs, one century and two fifties), and Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan (353 runs, one century and two fifties).

Bowling and All-Round Records

In the bowling department, Sri Lankan great Muttiah Muralitharan tops the chart with 96 wickets in Pakistan vs Sri Lanka ODIs, followed by Pakistan’s legendary duo Wasim Akram (92) and Waqar Younis (84), along with Sanath Jayasuriya (71) and Shahid Afridi (67).

Among current bowlers, Hasan Ali leads the chart with 21 wickets, followed by Shadab Khan with 15 and Matheesha Pathirana with 4.

Lasith Malinga registered three five-wicket hauls, while Waqar Younis, Muttiah Muralitharan, and Usman Shinwari achieved the feat twice each.
