The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed the completion of Mohammad Wasim’s tenure as head coach of the national women’s cricket team.
The board stated that the process to appoint a new head coach is underway, and an announcement regarding his replacement will be made soon.
Wasim, who took charge in 2024, guided Pakistan to the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 after an unbeaten run in the qualifying stage.

However, the team’s overall performance in the tournament fell short of expectations.
Pakistan finished at the bottom in the eight-team table, earning only three points from seven games, which included four defeats and three no-results due to rain.

Although the side showed signs of improvement, including a near-upset against Australia when the former champions were reduced to 76 for 7 after 20 overs, missed opportunities at crucial stages and recurring batting failures proved costly.
The team was also close to defeating England but rain denied them a golden chance.
Pakistan suffered heavy defeats against arch-rivals India, Bangladesh, and South Africa, while their match against New Zealand ended with no result.
Despite Wasim’s experience as a former middle-order batter with 18 Tests and 25 ODIs, the team’s batting lineup struggled for consistency throughout his tenure.
His inability to address this long-standing issue has reportedly drawn criticism within the PCB, with officials believing a new direction is needed to help the women’s team progress.
The PCB reiterated its commitment to the growth of women’s cricket in Pakistan, emphasizing its goal of providing the national side with the best possible coaching and resources to achieve success on the international stage.
