The government of Pakistan has provided a major facility for the citizens, announcing to make the first identity card for free of cost within 15 days, according to the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA).
According to NADRA’s Facebook page, citizens will receive their first Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) without an embedded chip free of charge within 15 days.

NADRA has issued an open invitation to citizens who have reached 18 and don’t yet possess a CNIC to visit any nearby center, complete the registration process, and secure their initial CNIC without incurring a fee.
Under law, upon reaching 18 years of age citizen becomes eligible to obtain their own ID card as well as take part in general elections.

NADRA has updated its fee structure for renewing Computerised National Identity Cards (CNIC) and Smart ID Cards during October.
According to recent updates from NADRA, they would charge a standard renewal fee of Rs 400; an urgent renewal fee of Rs 1150; and executive renewal fee of Rs 2150 in October for CNIC renewal applications.

Under normal conditions, CNIC renewal will take 15 days under regular conditions; under urgent renewal it can arrive as quickly as 12 days. Customers with executive facility access can obtain their CNIC within 6 days. CNIC Renewal Fee in October 2025 Normal Conditions (with 15 day processing time) PKR 400.
Urgent: PKR 1150 with an expected processing time of 12 days; for executive updates it costs just PKR 2150 with only 6 days required to process your renewal fee update. NADRA also issues smart ID cards which fall into three categories – Normal, Urgent and Executive.

It would charge Rs 750 in October for issuing Smart ID card renewals under its normal category with a process time of 31 days, while Rs 1500 would be levied under Urgent for renewals processed within 15 days.
Executive category Smart ID card renewal will cost Rs 2500 with an expected processing time of 9 days, while standard processing costs would range between PKR 750 (31 days processing) and Urgent (15 days). Under Executive status the total processing cost could go as high as Rs 2500 (9 days).
