The Pakistan Cricket Board has approved a major renovation plan for the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, with on-ground work set to begin next month.
According to Geo Super, the project includes a complete redesign of the stadium’s enclosures, inspired by the layout recently introduced at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
The aim is to modernise the venue and provide fans with a better and more comfortable viewing experience.

This development follows earlier upgrades carried out ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, when Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi stadiums received improvements such as new floodlights, digital screens, a modern pavilion, and enhanced dressing room and media facilities.
Under the fresh renovation phase, Karachi’s enclosures will be remodelled, while spectator facilities are expected to be upgraded further.
According to the news channel, the PCB does not plan to install roofing over the stands at Gaddafi Stadium for now.
Meanwhile, the PCB is also working with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on a new cricket stadium project in Islamabad.
The CDA will handle the venue’s management and administration, while the PCB will be responsible for cricket operations and hosting events at the facility.
